Out of all the sitcoms created by stand-up comics (i.e. Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond) Roseanne stands out as a sincere blend of drama and comedy. These white-trash rednecks are conscious of their social status and are completely uninhibited in their actions.
Laurie Metcalf and John Goodman both create memorable and hysterical characters but it's Roseanne who shows a surprising range with her thick layer of sarcasm and tender heart.
Personally, I've always had a crush on Sara Gilbert (Darlene); I love a girl with some bone-dry humor.
